Dad asked Ellie to do something for him, but i had already asked her to do something. When Marc got upset that she wasn't doing what he had asked she told him, she was doing what Mom had asked her to do first.
Dad, apologizing: "Well, thank you, Ellie, for being obedient to the first commandment given to you."
Ellie: "Um...I think you mean the fifth commandment. You know: 'Honor thy Faddah and Mudduh?'"
