Update on Ben...

Merry Christmas, everyone...Hope you all had a great holiday! It's been a very busy few weeks for us...sorry I haven't posted an update on Ben yet!

On Tuesday, December 23rd, Ben went back to Primary's to have another CT. Afterward we had breakfast in hospital cafeteria and Ben showed the girls a couple of the places he liked to visit in the hospital. We decided we would try to find the Urology department, so that when we came back that afternoon we'd be able to find it. Just as we got to the office, Dr. Wallis (the Urologist), was coming out. He told us to just stick around and he'd squeeze us in...Awesome!

When we got to the exam room he told us that he thought we'd need to have Ben have another surgery...he still has a hole in his kidney, and there is a small pool of leakage around the bottom of the kidney. We were devastated. Ben was hysterical. Dr. Wallis said that he wanted to go talk to the Radiology/Surgery dept about what they thought should happen. While he was gone we decided that we would do whatever it took to get Ben better. When Dr. Wallis got back he said that there was a change of plans. All of the doctors felt that Ben would be better off if we waited to see what happened...to see if the kidney will heal on its own. We were ecstatic!

Ben got his catheter removed ten minutes later! (Which wasn't fun...but it's done!!! YAY!) He'll go back every month to have his blood pressure monitored, and he's scheduled to go back on the 20th for another CT Scan...Hopefully, they'll find that his kidney is still healing, and he won't have to have anymore surgery (except to remove the stent)!!!

I feel so humbled by this experience. The love and prayers that have been poured out to our family have been felt so deeply. I know that my Father in Heaven is watching over us and is blessing our family. Thank you all! Happy New Year!!!
