Ward Christmas Party

For our ward party this year we had a luau! It was a lot of fun...unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of pics (being on the Activities Committee has its downsides!)...and the 'Santa' pictures haven't come back yet (I'll post them as soon as I get them)!

We had BBQ and katzu chicken (from this place called L&L Hawaiian BBQ...amazing!), rice, salad, pineapple cake, and Hawaiian punch for dinner. The entertainment was provided by a couple of Samoan families in the ward that performed the hula and Samoan dances. The young men did a 'haka'. There was also a skit (written by me) performed by the Bishop and members of the auxiliary presidencies, entitled 'A Castaway Christmas,' featuring the cast of Gilligan's island...uber cheesy! At the end Santa made an appearance! It was a lot of fun!

Here's a long distance view of Santa's chair, and the tables. We gave the poinsettias to the widows and elderly in the ward, after the party. There was a wall of paper sailboat cut-outs that people wrote what they were thankful for on, a huge banner that said 'welcome' in Samoan, Hawaiian, and Tongan, and a 'Giving Tree' decked out in hibiscus flowers, fish ornaments, and a grass tree skirt!
